Kangas on Jyväskylän kaupungin merkittävin aluekehityshanke, entinen paperitehdas ja tulevaisuuden älykäs kaupunginosa, jossa asutaan, työskennellään, opiskellaan ja viihdytään. Kankaan suunnittelussa ja toteutuksessa vanhojen kaavojen tilalle vaihtuvat uudet oivallukset, alueen mielenkiintoista historiaa unohtamatta. Vuonna 2025 Kankaalla kaavaillaan asuvan 3 000 ja työskentelevän noin 2 100 ihmistä, ja vuonna 2040 Kankaalta löytyy koti jo viidelletuhannelle.

On a Jyväskylä and Finnish scale the Kangas project is long, massive and challenging to manage. Investments in infrastructure must already be made in the initial stage, while the city will gain economic profit only in the final stages of the whole project.  Most of the strategic decisions have to be made now and after 20 years they must still stand the test of time.

Already now there are 35-40 companies located in Kangas. In the year 2016 Kangas will have its first inhabitants, learninh institutions and the Jyväskylä Business and Innovation Factory. In the future Kangas will be a home to 5 000 inhabitants and a workplace for 2 100 workers.
