Museon perusnäyttely esittelee Aallon tuotantoa pienoismallein, originaalipiirustuksin ja valokuvin. Tarkastelun kohteeksi on valittu 24 yksittäistä rakennusta tai rakennusryhmää. Tunnetuimpien ja merkittävimpien rakennusten lisäksi katsoja voi tutustua Aallon suunnittelemiin pientaloihin, näyttelypaviljonkeihin tai tuotantoon muissa maissa. Näyttely esittelee myös Aallon muotoilua interiöörien, lasiesineiden sekä huonekalujen välityksellä.

Osansa näyttelyssä saa Alvar Aallon henkilöhistoria, johon on liitetty hänen elinaikansa ajankuvaa: historiallisia tapahtumia, politiikkaa, taiteita, elämää Suomessa ja muualla.

Kulttuuritalon elokuvateatterin nimeä kantavassa Bio Alpissa on elokuvien näyttömahdollisuus. Tila toimii myös luentosalina ja tarvittaessa pienenä näyttelytilana.

Näyttely valmistui Alvar Aallon 100-vuotissyntymäjuhlan kunniaksi vuonna 1998. Näyttelyä on uudistettu keväällä 2008.

Alvar Aalto’s life’s work is shown in chronological order, concentrating on twenty-four buildings or groups of buildings illustrated with scale models, drawings and photographs. As well as some of Aalto’s best known and most important buildings, the visitor can also see small detached houses, exhibition pavilions and buildings abroad. Some of the exhibits are supplemented by reconstructions of parts of their interiors.

The museum’s extensive collection of objects enables reconstructions of interior designs by Alvar and Aino Aalto. A specific section features Alvar Aalto, the designer, by displaying such objects as chairs, glassware and lamps.

Part of the exhibition is devoted to Alvar Aalto’s personal history linked with a sketch of the times in which he lived: historical events, politics, the arts, and life in Finland and abroad.

Films can be seen in the Bio Alppi, the namesake of the cinema in Aalto’s House of Culture. The cinema also serves as a lecture theatre or a small exhibition space.

The exhibition was prepared in honour of the centenary of Alvar Aalto’s birth in 1998 and was renewed in spring 2008.
